The Portchester Society was founded in 1978 and since then it has been actively engaged in pursuing the triple aims established by its founding members, which are:-

to Promote the interests of the people of Portchester
to Protect the local environment
to Preserve the history and heritage of the community

The Society is interested in any social or environmental development in Portchester and its environs that is likely to affect the standard of life for all those living in the community. From the very beginning it has sought to stimulate a greater public awareness of those factors which can influence the places in which we live, work and spend our leisure time. The Society monitors every planning application that is lodged with Fareham Borough Council for addresses in Portchester East and Portchester West wards, and acts as a pressure group for the improvement of facilities which can materially and spiritually affect our lives.

In addition there is a social calendar and a monthly series of talks and entertainments held throughout the year.
